Trends in webdesign: single page websites

Created: Wednesday, 17 September 2014 Written by Saskia

One of the trends of this past year has been the development of single page websites. These are websites that seem to consist of only one long single page. All of the information of your company is on this single page through which you can scroll bottom to top (and back).

Most of the single page websites have a menu on top of the site which can be used to jump from topic to topic.

For those of you who have a content management system and know a bit about managing articles: a single page website is in fact a selection of articles that are all placed on the home page, so called featured articles. All of these articles are accessible from the home page and directly through the menu items.

In its most basic form it is simple to build and to fill with content and pictures. Of course also this design can be used as a base on which you can build a bigger and more extensive website as your company grows and develops.

This kind of design is very suitable and easy to manage for owners of small tourism accommodations like chambre d'hotes, bed and breakfasts, gites, holiday houses or small campsites.

One of the greatest advantages of this design is the fact that it is completely responsive. This means that will adapt easily to different screen sizes, like desktop, laptop, but more importantly to smartphones and tables.

Did you know that about 40% of internet surfers use a tablet or smartphone to visit your site? Therefor it is essential that your site is compatible with these mobile devices to give all of your visitors (and potential clients) a good user experience on your site.

Summarizing the advantages of single page web design:

  • Easy and quick to set up
  • Gives a good impression of your domain because of the use of easy to manage photo sliders
  • Is fully responsive for use on smartphones and tables
  • Cheap to buy because of the simple design
  • Easy to add build extensions to this design

We can offer you a beautiful (and quite cheap) basic template for this design. This template can be adjusted to your liking by:

  • Customizing letter font
  • Changing colors of background, foreground and fonts
  • Adding your own logo
  • Choosing your best pictures

we have called this design SLB Scroll and you can find a live demonstration of this template here. If you are more interested in prices and packages that visit our services page.
