Presentation to stand out from the crowd

Created: Friday, 24 January 2014 Written by Saskia

There are so many estate agents out there. Doing the same thing you are doing. Selling the same houses you are selling. At least the visitors to your website think this way. Selling a house is not an easy thing. There is a huge supply at the moment, so it seems to be a buyers' market. How do you catch the interest of a buyer as soon as they enter your site. How can you make sure that your website stands out from the crowd?

We have seen many estate agents website, and we have noticed that all site look more or less the same.

A lot of them are very outdated, and not working smoothly. Besides that, not many estate agents dare to stand out of the crowd.

What can you do to stand out?

In our opinion there are a few things you can do to safely stand out from the crowd. Nothing very exciting but important enough to pay some attention to it.

First of all other things you do: make absolutely sure that all menu items, all links, all content works properly. By this we mean that there should be no pages on your site with "under construction", or maybe even worse "no translations available". You better have a smaller site, with less content and menu items than a big one with a lot of stuff that is not working.

Second to that is that the navigation should be clear and simple. So simple that the visitors to your site should really feel invited to click through to get to know your portfolio and your agency. Let them feel welcome by designing your website in such a way that it is easy for them to look further. To take the path through the site you have developed for them.

Third, and that is a rather tricky thing for many of you out there: show who you are! You are the key factor to your company. People buy or sell through your agency because they trust you will handle their affair with the utmost accuracy and confidentiality. Get yourself on your site, with everybody you work with. Yes that might be out of your comfort zone, but hey, your visitors want to buy a house, in France that is. For many of your clients this is a lifelong dream finally about to come through. Be aware of that. Be aware of the fact that they choose you because you are going to help them realize their dream. So show them who you are, and that you are here to help them, with your expert advice, your fantastic portfolio and your enthusiasm for their plans.

So make sure that you show who you are, and that you really, really like what you do. Invite your visitors to contact you through a well-designed website, on which everything works because you have paid attention to that.

If you don't pay attention to your site and your presentation, why would a potential client believe you will pay attention to them? Selling a house that looks like a mess is impossible too isn't it?

It is really very easy to convince the visitors to you site to contact you in real life. But you need to invest some time, energy, and probably also money, in updating your website to the standard that your clients expect from you.
